This is Islander Fred Peach in Stebondale Street on 2nd June 1953, enjoying a Coronation Day street party. Fred was born in 1946 and went to Cubitt Town and Glengall Road schools. His family lived in a prefab in Stebondale Street after they were bombed out during the Blitz. Fred passed away recently due to asbestosis contracted working in the building industry. His funeral was held this afternoon in Blue Bell Hill in Walderslade, Kent, and our thoughts go out to his wife Dianne and family on their sad loss.
