This is a actually VERY popular tactic used by politicians WORLD WIDE. If I did something wrong and theres solid evidence out there, I just get my people to go out there and feed the media with propaganda of an alternative theory of what could have happened instead. China did the same thing with Tienanmen Massacre, Russia is recently trying to do the same with the shot down of MH17. Remember, MOST conspiracy theory are BULLSHIT. A lot of time its politicians tool to fool and distract the mass from looking at the hard evidence.
