This is a copy/paste from my good friend, Allison Barr Brown, and I second what she says: I dont post in here a whole lot but I have felt the need recently to post something. Last week I witnessed something very heartbreaking and completely preventable. I fostered a dog for a short time that became ill with distemper and had to be euthanized. She was a wonderful, beautiful girl. She was patient and kind. However she came in contact with a puppy that had distemper and she fell ill a few days later. She had been inoculated but she also had whip worms and didnt have the immunity to fight off the distemper. I say all of this to urge each and every pet owner to PLEASE pay the money to get your pets the shots they need and are required to have. It doesnt cost a lot of money contrary to belief. One unvaccinated pet can affect many other pets and in turn this affects many families. Im thankful for the time I had with my girl. She knows she was loved in her final days. But this absolutely did not have to happen. Please make that call to a local vet. Many are open late or on weekends.
