This is a curious historical period in the USA. The middle class has long since captured the Left and most protest movements, under state supervision in many cases, working directly with the police. The lapdog Left and many Black nationalist tendencies have gone into the government itself, and argue that this is the most viable method of struggle in this period, and encourage other to do the same. Although there is mass poverty, unemployment, and police terror, and other crimes against the people, we still have yet to see a mass grassroots tendency in the streets, instead we are being told to wait on the Black or socialist leaders, who will surely soon provide us with answers. This is the real problem with the Left, it has no relationship with building any sort of autonomous radical tendency, and has taken on the clothing of the master class. The level of treachery, conformity, and opportunism is incredible, and although we are in a deep crisis,and they have resources to build a broad based movement, they wont do so until the Democratic party approves of it and tells them to do it. This cooptation and subversion of protest is actually the effect of police state counterinsurgency.
