This is a five star speech. Is Putin now the leader of the Free world? Washington wants a globalised consumer society disconnected as much as possible from higher spiritual values that get in the way of business. The ideal articulated by Francis Fukuyama in the End of History, in reality a sort of pleasure dome police state ruled over by media and finance where elected representatives are a front for a permanent leftwing capitalist oligarchy. Sweden and Britain are the countries that come closest to this model with very little freedom of speech or religion remaining. America is not far behind with just one more liberal supreme court judge needed to tip the balance against the 1st and 2nd amendments. A speech is a speech but Putin does seem more pro-Western in a real sense than any Western leaders who are all intent on destroying the foundations of the nation which is the prerequisite for real freedom and democracy.
