This is a further addition to the piece I wrote on 3rd October entitled: This Is Hungary. Some readers may recall that the street next to our apartment (same one used in shots for the latest Bruce Willis Film) had been closed to traffic for resurfacing. It is now almost December and it has still not reopened. Yes the new surface has finally been laid and the white lines for the parking bays eventually started to be repainted, but now some bright spark in the local authority thinks it better if they were angled in the other direction, thereby forcing motorists to back up onto the pavement rather than drive in nose first. Not only will the irate following motorist be obliged to reverse back because they had no idea the car in front was going to park, it will in effect cause normal rear bumpers and protruding exhaust pipes to collide with the newly raised curb on parking, and also take the brunt of every crash as the vehicle drops off that raised curb to pull away. Hardly a motorist friendly environment is it?
