This is a non-partisan issue, and there are people from all different backgrounds and parties on both sides of the issue. Along with Congresswoman Judy Chu (D), Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (D) and Congressman Buck McKeon (R) have voiced support for Chus National Monument plan. The opposition to the National Monument plan has gathered community support from businesses, organizations, private citizens, as well as from multiple congressional representatives and elected officials from both parties and a wide variety of political ideologies. We are excited to announce that Congressman Paul Cook (R), Congressman Gary Miller (R), and Congresswoman Gloria Negrete McLeod (D) have all come out in opposition to the National Monument proposal. I repeat, this is not a partisan issue. Considering the amount of controversy caused by this proposal, it is not appropriate for President Obama to take executive action.
