This is a photo of me at the age of 15 and after braces were taken - TopicsExpress

This is a photo of me at the age of 15 and after braces were taken off for the first time. The braces were put back on after this photo was taken because the teeth were moving already. The orthodontist tried to rearange my bite by pulling teeth and doing all kinds of things to correct a bite disorder without surgery, like completely seperating my front teeth and telling me that I had too many teeth so he had to pull them. I had a jaw disorder that required surgical correction. The orthodontist ignored my complaints of lock jaw and joint pain. Retrognathia was my condition. I had to find out about my horrible ortho work and my bite disorder when I moved out of state, and while getting a general check up at the dentist. I knew my teeth were relapsing but I had not been told of a jaw disorder. I went to tears in the chair that day. I was 22 years old by this time. I had tried to tell the orthodontist and my mother that something was wrong and that I hurt. The pain from orthodontia caused me to become obsessed with my jaw and the retrognathia became more and more noticeable to me. I felt that I looked retarded yet my orthodontist never told me that I had retrognathia and my mother called me a hypochondriac. I have suffered more than my share of dental abuse. I now have a life threatening airway injury, nerve damage to my hard palate, soft palate, gums, lips and chin, teeth and sinus injury, after agreeing to jaw surgery for mild retrognathia and mild obstructive sleep apnea at the University of Michigan.
