This is a rare Trompe loeil Art Pottery plate with an attached apple and peelings by Fitz and Floyd. This decorative plate is a reproduction of a majolica piece from Sarreguemines, France and it is also reminiscent of work by Christine Viennet or Eva Gordon. The rim is decorated with embossed ridge detail, and strawberries with their leaves, vines, fruit, and flowers âe and is trimmed in a warm cocoa brown. The center of the plate is decorated with an embossed medallion on which rest, the full scale, life-like apple and peelings. Trompe loeil is a French term literally meaning a trick of the eye.
