This is a re-share of the Aviation History Magazine post from one year ago on the first operational use of the German Mistel composite aircraft. The photo shown shows two of the composite aircraft which used a fighter plane (either a Messerschmitt Bf 109 or a Focke Wulf FW 190) mounted above an explosive filled bomber. . The composite aircraft was relatively slow (about 250 mph) and were relatively easy targets for defending Allied fighters.
