This is a repost from another thread as a few people said it was helpful so thought it might be good to post it separately. It is slightly edited to make more sense on its own....some will have read this already so apologies for the repeat :-) If you havent voted yet or are undecided, This is more about how I came to a decision than the decision itself (but for openness, I am voting No)..here you go..... Before I start I might just quickly say that I am not saying everyone else who thinks otherwise is wrong as I might be wrong too! ...also what might be right for someone might be wrong for someone else....to explain- Since I was a wee Johnny many years ago (no cashing in on the obvious joke!) I wanted Scotland to become independent. When this campaign first started several years ago I was on the Yes side...but then moved to sitting on the fence basically over my mistrust of Alex Salmond and his promises etc . Again for those of you that say it is not about him but about independant Scotland- well I wouldnt buy a car off of someone I didnt trust if they told me it would be good for another 10 years..(same principle but not going too deep into that here) I have watched the new Scottish parliament start and grow and squander money on eg the new parliament building (cost almost £100 for every man, woman, child, baby in Scotland..it at one stage would have been cheaper to tear it down and start again!).......I was not impressed as this was the start, the new clean slate, the promise of a new beginning blah blah...anyway...I continue...the new tram (cost 1 billion...I think that is more than twice the cost of the parliament!!!!)) ..wind turbines, their blatant ignoring over public consultations when they dont get the results they want etc etc...do I need to say much more...I do not trust them....and I do not want them in charge of my country ...so for those that are looking for a better voice or are blaming Westminster for their woes, or the woes of Scotland, then you are not going to get the fresh start or freedom from Westminster corruption you complain about..you are going to get the same thing all over again If you want a socialist country (I actually dont want that myself) then yes you will get that, but you will not get this sparkly government that you rightfully want Anyway, I still sat on the fence waiting to see what came of the referendum campaign...and have been a bit saddened to hear the bitter Scottish voice blaming everything on London and the Torys despite having had a labour Government for a huge amount of that time! ...but perhaps I have been more saddened to hear quite a silence on what Gods heart is over our country We seem to be ignoring this in favour of what we want and we are going to get a leader that collectively as a country we deserve (and I dont mean that as something good) I still sat on the fence as inside I still wanted an independent Scotland...Being unhappy sitting on the fence all undecided, I put it before God ..I did actually feel God tell me to repent of hanging on to historical pasts and wrongs that I felt had been done to Scotland (and I wasnt even the sort of person who felt bitter about it..just felt it was our right to be left alone and do our own thing) My realisation after was that God has actually blessed us as nation...Scotland (and rUk) have been at their best under the Union...again instead of giving details I refer you my post on this thread (Sep 13th) I still really love the idea of an independent Scotland but more importantly thats my heart/emotions that are saying that and the important part ie my spirit, is saying another. Again dont want to make anyone feel bad if they have put the same thing to God and come out with something different..maybe this is just the way God has dealt with me as an individual... ...and hey, I am settled inside about it even if I will now be voting the opposite way to my long term views about Scotland
