This is a response from The Fire Training Officer regarding challenges for fire training officers and instructors. Feel free to share on that page and comment. "Back to the challenges of keeping training fresh and interesting as a challenge for the training officer or fire department training. This is a huge and exhausting challenge. There is no one way to do this. Get input from everyone about what kind of training they want. Next, ask everyone in a survey what their weakest skill or tactic is. In the same survey, ask what they are most concerned with tactically and operationally on the department. Then ask what the top five contributors to LODD are. Compile all of those answers and start your list. Once you get the list, send it out and ask the members to prioritize those listed. Now, peel back the onion. Pick the topics for training and pick the most important and highest picked first. Your second training should be a topic a little further down the list so you can bring back a more popular topic after that. Good luck!"
