This is a test, Please help save our future and read in its entirety. The ten smartest people who ever lived were Shakespeare, Michelangelo, Johann Wolfgang, Alexander the Great, Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, Leonardo DeVinici, Phidias, Albert Einstein, and the architect who built the Egyptian pyramids..Not my opinion, but fact according to IQs.. What did they all have in common? They didnt have cell phones. So no one can convince me that technology is making our kids smarter. My son had a birthday party. its was getting really quiet, so we go to check on the 6 teenage boys. They are all sitting in the living room texting each other. I was furious. I planned a party to make my sons birthday special, so my question was, Why didnt you all just go into a chat room, and save me lots of time and money? From the age of 8 - 25, this is becoming a severe problem. These kids are not being taught communication skills, how to write, how to spell, or any of the essential skills they need in the real world to survive. They are addicted. So I decided to do a test. I had Isaiah and his best friend of five years see how well they knew each other..These guys have spent at least two days together every week for 5 years.. Big surprise.. They knew very little about each other.. So I told them for 1 hour, no electronic devices of any kind. I want you guys to actually sit and talk face to face. I will be back in 1 hour and see how much you have learned about each other. To further my point, I returned in less than 5 minutes. In 5 minutes they learned each others favorite pet, Insect, bird, favorite vacation, Favorite food, color, birthdate, about each others families, and numerous other things. So my son who was dissapointed about NOT getting a cell phone for his birthday will remain dissapointed because I will not pay for my son to waste his days. I would much rather give that money to charity.. So with all this being said, New rule at my house.. Cell phones, I pads, et will be confiscated at my front door if you come to visit us. They will be returned when you leave. No Joke, and I am sticking to this... I see kids flunking classes, but they have 7-8 hrs a day on average to snap chat. I see people dying because they are texting while driving. WHY DOES A 8 YEAR OLD NEED A CELL PHONE?? Or any young person at least until college age.. And if you answer in case they need to call me in an emergency, Stop fooling yourself, that is not a good answer, centuries of people have survived without one. If you answer for educational purposes, again wrong answer, statistics show that our young people are getting dumber.. I told Isaiah, I would get him a good old fashioned pager if he really felt he needed an emergency contact device. So if your children arent doing well at school, whos fault is it? I am taking responsibility and willing to admit that it would be my fault..My sons grades are good, but they sure would be better if he spent more time studying, and less time texting. Save our children, Take away their cell phone...I refuse to ruin my sons social skills, grades, future, so he can fit in with his peers by having a cell phone. Sorry Isaiah, But NO cell phone in your future EVER... Love you too much for that..
