This is a testimony of one of our clients who has multiple sclerosis (MS). She just started using H3O Aquatics for physical therapy. She allowed us to take this video because she enjoyed her aquatic therapy so much and hasnt been able to move her foot like she did in our therapy pools in years. This was her first session in our therapy pools with our therapist. Exercise and therapy can be a real challenge for some people with MS. Common symptoms like weakness, numbness, and balance issues can make physical activity difficult, and maybe a little intimidating. But exercise is as important for people with MS as it is for everyone else. A good exercise routine can even ease symptoms. The buoyancy of water helps to support weak limbs, making them feel lighter. Water also provides resistance, which helps strengthen muscles. People with MS may find it easier to stand in the water than on dry land, and there’s a lower risk of injury due to a fall. H3O Aquatics underwater treadmills are an aerobic activity, so it’s good for your heart as well as your muscles. People with MS may find they have an increased range of motion in the water. There’s a lot less weight on your joints when your body is submerged. Using our underwater treadmills and parallel bars can also improve endurance, flexibility, and balance.
