This is a video made by MDC Exports Ltd to show some of their dog handling equipment in use. It does show how effective it is to use rewarding and positive reinforcement when working with dogs. However the dogs used for this video are not representative of stray dogs in many countries which, never having been used to having pressure or a collar round their necks, would panic if this sort of equipment is used. Wed like to take the opportunity to stress that dog poles are potentially very dangerous if not used by an experienced handler. They pose a significant risk of causing anxiety, stress and even death to dogs when used inappropriately. This is why SNIP International donates them only to groups which can show that they have the necessary training and experience to use them safely. In any case, dog poles must never be used for catching a dog, and for holding purposes only in an enclosed space such as a shelter environment.
