This is among other reasons why ODM and by extension CORD will not rule this country even if the current governments leadership is mediocre. Sometimes I get the feeling that a large part of the country were not ready for county governments; people dont seem to understand how to manage the counties. Most of the governors lack sound financial and management skills that would help them in harnessing the resources within the counties; they are also led by political parties that thrives only on squandering and wastage of resources! ...and this is also the folly of dominating a county with only one political party. In this era of county governments, every region desirious of development and growth should ensure that no one political party control their county government. The county will be doomed and all the money for economic and social development will end up in peoples pockets. That is the danger today in Nyanza of relying on ODM as the sole party. We need to work and elect men and women on different party platforms so that we have alternative voices who will unearth the rot in our county offices. Some people might think this is an laughing matter. What Im saying is going to affect you big time in your counties. Its mind-boggling when you hear the colossal amount of money the governor of Siaya is using to stay in the good books of Raila. Now you can see why others were being heckled in Kisumu. If we want to develop Nyanza, we need to go through serious soul searching and learn where the rain started beating us! Its rather annoying seeing public funds being wasted like this in some of the poorest counties in the country. Cant we as residents of Nyanza say enough is enough! If its the party which is responsible for this chronic poverty in our region, cant we just say - enough is enough! If I were in that position where some of us are in, I would have ensured that every county in the regions where I enjoy the influence are efficiently managed and; are providing necessary services to the residents. Let me tell you one thing: if you fail as a county, dont blame it on Uhuru Kenyattas government; blame it on your poor governance and poor guidance from the dominating party! When will our region emancipate itself and start competing with other regions in the country?
