This is an excerpt of a comment thread on an article from American Thinker. I thought was worth reposting: Aldridkg • 5 days ago Born and raised in a communist country- where you cant trust anyone, not your friends, neighbors, teachers, co-workers, etc. and where survival mentality rules due to poverty caused by gov. Unfortunately, I personally familiar with how terrifying all this actually is. Sadly, lots of Americans dont really care or want to hear anything about it cause they think that centralization and some securities in life are far more important than than liberty and individualism. ArmyAviator TO Aldridkg • 5 days ago I understand what you are saying. I lived in Romania for two years. Loved the place because I had US Dollars. Romania under communism was a land of slick, deceptive and cunning people! Communism made them, most all, criminals. Everybody had an angle and everybody was out to get some foreign currency. The Black Market was the only way the Romanians could survive. And then, only after one paid-off the Securitate. They sure lived lavishly by Romanian standards, as did the Elite! The same can easily happen on our country. When the Liberal Socialist Police State is finally jammed down our throats, there will ALWAYS be the Elites! The Kennedys, Kerrys, Clintons, Reids and of course: Pelosi Galore! Aldridkg TO ArmyAviator • 5 days ago I really hate to have to say this, but it is what it is. Some Americans just have no clue. I see people complaining about poverty and ghettos. Meanwhile, in the ghettos you find lots of cars parked on the street, people using those foodstamp cards to buy whatever they want, people walking around with IPhones, good clothing and shoes. Then you have programs which help low income or the needy with paying rents & utilities, medical needs through medicaid, free training for careers, programs to help take care of your kids, its endless. Again, completely clueless about it feels like to go to bed hungry, not having running water, cooking gas, electricity, access to food and live in a place thats falling apart - living your life wondering how youre going to make it tomorrow. Yet somehow, thats just not enough. Watching people complain, or support views that takes more and more of your individual liberties away- is frustrating to say the least. PamL TO Aldridkg • 5 days ago It must be harder for you to watch the demise of the U.S. than it is for those of us who were born here. See, thats the ultimate irony - half this country dont take 5 minutes to think about WHY they get all this free help, they have just been so dependent for so many years, they have deluded themselves into thinking they DESERVE all the free stuff. For the past 100 years, this country has never had any truly poor people (debatable but I understand her premise) . If this country devolves like described in this blog, then be prepared - there will be millions who will not survive. Aldridkg TO PamL • 5 days ago Words cannot describe what I feel when it comes to this. It is true what Reagan said in his speech. Reagan commented on a conversation with Cuban person like me, who said to paraphrase, if the US goes, there is no where else to go or turn to. That is exactly what I think- it scares the crap out of me-honestly. So, I usually try my best to put it out of my mind as much as possible.
