This is complete Bull Shit! Greenhouse Gas emissions are calculated using fuzz maths. The producer, NOT the consumer, is credited. For example, when an American drives his big fat SUV to the Wal-Mart burning Canadian oil in his tank and buys a consumer good made with Canadian oil in China, NONE of the Greenhouse Gases are attributed to the American (or the Chinese)! It all gets counted as Canadian GHGs!!!! If Canada didnt produce this energy, the business would flow to another country. Wed gut our economy and the American SUV driving Wal-Mart shopper would keep living life large. Before we can have a sensible discussion about GHGs, we need to clean up the accounting practice that makes Canada look like the bad guy. :(
