This is difficult for me to totally take this information in even after 3 + years but I did really detach my head from my body. Doctors learnt I broke/fractured/subluxation/damaged my Occipital Condyles. They are basically the bones that hold your head onto your spine. These small saucer shaped bits of bone are attached to the 1st cervical bone. MOST PEOPLE WITH C-1 LESIONS DONT SURVIVE. Having built up a little strength (early April 2011) the surgeon decided to proceed with a nine hour life changing operation of course unsure if I would survive the operation. Well I did and only now am I brave enough to show these. Only a few close friends have seen them until now. Everyone has lots of vertebrae in your spine. Mine are fused. I cant move my head without my body also. You can see the metal work has been attached to the back of my skull and to my 3rd, 4th and 5th cervical bones. You can see 2 screws in each of my c-3, c-4 and c-5. The last photo is a more recent one. Hair done by my daughter as I cant reach. Shows my scar its about 12 long and when my head was shaved from the op could be seen halfway up my head!
