I recently raised the issue of Teacher Allocations for National Schools with the newly appointed Minister for Education Jan O’Sullivan. I have worked with Meath Hill NS on their recent appeal & I understand why parents and teachers alike are upset by the decision not to keep the 4th teacher for this year. Although the appeals system is completely independent I feel that for a school to lose a teacher based on last year’s enrolment figures is completely illogical and I have asked the Minister to look at how the criteria is applied.
