This is going to be a little long so bear with me. I have been - TopicsExpress

This is going to be a little long so bear with me. I have been thinking about my dad a lot lately and it bums me out that I cant talk to him about things I know he would be interested in. A few years ago I read Big Russ And Me by Tim Russert and after I read it I talked daddy in reading it too. Its Tims memories of his dad while he was growing up. Then I found Lessons of Our Fathers, which was letters people had sent to Tim about their own memories of their fathers. So one year I bought daddy a copy and I included my own lessons that I learned from him. I put it in the back of the book so it would read as follows: And now for lessons Ive learned from my Father...you, Ive learned that when in a Sams club, to stay away from the sock bins. Ive learned not to you to wake me up for an early morning monster movie unless I want to be woken up by a loud and stinky alarm clock with no snooze button. And I wasnt about to look for one either. Ive learned that when daddy says cut the cheese do as he says, not as he does. Way to go Mandy. Ive learned that I got my love of driving from all those road trips we took to take pictures of train stations. Ive learned that all it takes to make you giggle is to say hot pockets like Jim Gaffigan. Ive learned that to take you back in time and make your mouth water is to mention the hash browns from Chriss. Ive learned how to ride a bike and drive a car from you. With a stick shift even! Ive learned how to cook some of my favorite comfort foods from you like your Spanish rice and stuff. Ive learned not to ask your co-worker to draw me a picture of a black hole unless I want a picture of a pantless man. Ive learned my appreciation of British humor from you. But the most important thing Ive learned is what kind of man I want to be like...you. I love you daddy. Happy fathers day.
