This is how an interview with a successful athlete should sound he was perfectly reasonable and less inclined to superstitious claptrap about god and jesus. After all, if he expresses gratitude to mythical beings for doing well, players on the other team must have have been disappointed by the failure of whatever deities they pray to for depriving them of success. Thanking god or gods for victories of one sort or another always amounts to selective citation of evidence. In sports, for every winner there are one or more losers. Surely the losers would be equally justified in cursing and condemning whatever god they pray to for their failure?
