This is just a friendly reminder that you have 2 opportunities this week to participate in the congregation’s discernment process for how to be more intentional and effective about how we do justice at Riverside. One is this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in room 302-303 of the Education Building. Leaders from Lakewood and Woodlawn Presbyterian, as well as an ICARE organizer will be on hand to give an overview of ICARE, what it means to join as a congregation, and answer questions. The second is to join Rev. Emily Proctor Tuesday night at 6:30 pm at Abyssinia Baptist Church for ICARE’s annual Community Problems Assembly. There will be a number of State Representatives and Legislators there to hear about the statewide criminal justice issue ICARE is working on. It will be a good chance for you to see ICARE in action as well as the other congregations and leaders who are involved. There should be several hundred people in attendance. If you would like to carpool, Rev. Proctor is happy to meet folks at the church at 6 pm to carpool and will check to see if the van is available if there is enough interest. Just let her know by Sunday. To get to Abyssinia Baptist, take I-95 N to Dunn Ave. Turn left on Dunn Ave, and then pretty soon after, turn left again onto Monaco. Then turn left onto De Paul Drive, which turns into Interstate Center Drive. Abyssinia parking lot will be on your left as you go around a curve. Google maps takes you a different way which is confusing, so I’d recommend following these instructions instead. The meeting begins promptly at 6:30 and should be finished by 8:30. Rev.
