This is not the first time a U.N. treaty created a legal threat to American corporations. President George H. W. Bush went to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit refusing to sign the U.N. convention on biodiversity on these very grounds. Unlike President Bush, Obama appears determined to sign a climate deal in Paris. In doing so, the president’s legacy will be landing America with a very large bill in the form of the biggest heist in history. I see tit for tat bargaining between Obama and the Senate for this getting ratified and amnesty passing. Obama may have to decide which one he wants more. Any takers on that bet?
