This is one of my favorite mobility tools to open up the hips. Wednesdays are off days for me, and my hips were killing me. I decided to do a full body mobility day and figured Id share this little piece of advice with you all. I put my feet about shoulder width apart and my toes slightly pointed out. I drive my knees out which forces my hips to open up and even works a bit of ankle mobility into the equation. The band really helps keep your torso upright and allows you to focus on the hips. Remember to properly warm up before your workout, not only to prevent injury, but to ensure you are able to get into proper positioning throughout the movement.
