This is one of my favorite songs, and its a perfect day to play it. 26 years to the day legendary singer-songerwriter Roy Orbison died of a heart attack. At the time he was a member of the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys (Feat: George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, and Tom Petty) and was spending time with his family in Hendersonville Tenesse, just a few days prior to the shooting of this video. To honor the loss, during filming the group improvises an eerie shift to the song, darkening the train and having a close up shot of a guitar sitting in a rocking chair next to a photo of Orbison, as his vocals are heard. Look for the shift at about 1:40 seconds: https://youtube/watch?v=cwqhdRs4jyA&channel=TravelingWilburys Roy Orbison is best known for his trademark sunglasses, distinctive, powerful voice, complex compositions, and dark emotional ballads. Elvis Presley, Petty, and Dylan have all stated that his voice was, respectively, the greatest and most distinctive voice they have ever heard. And Rolling Stone also rated Orbison at No. 13 in their list of The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time in 2008. His vocal instrument bridged the gap between baritone and tenor, and music scholars have suggested that he had a three- or four-octave range. This is truly a beautiful obscure moment in rock n roll history. And a unique gesture from friends. I know I sound like Christian Bale in american psycho, but I couldnt help sharing. This always gives me the chills. If youre in a mood to dust off old records, feel free to listen to the playlist I created for Roy today in the comments section below. #RIPRoyOrbison #CarusoOfRock #PlayThisAtMyFuneral #RoysEpitaph
