This is one of those sad, sad stories the press love to play up. But something about this one, not mentioned in this article, raises it to the level of tragedy. The father of the missing woman proudly declared that the couple-to-be are both "workaholics." Because of that, he knew they had a wonderful life ahead of them and their children. Stats show otherwise. It is bad enough when one member of the family member is a compulsive worker, but both? Yikes? Why is compulsive work addiction still the only disorder that is praised? Psychologist John Bradshaw provides the clearest definition of addiction as “a pathological relationship to any mood altering experience that has life damaging consequences.” Compulsive work fits the bill.
