This is probably going upset some of my fellow Royals fans, but ... The St. Louis Cardinals are the best-run organization in Major League Baseball - by far - and they have been for many years. They are not in a major market, yet year after year they are in the postseason and fighting for the World Series. Their payroll is half of what the Yankees, Red Sox, etc., shell out. They develop players in their system and when injuries occur or players leave, they just plug in somebody else and keep on winning. A few very obnoxious Cardinal fans soured me on them early in my youth. But now I have grown to understand that every team has both good and bad fans. I dont openly root for the Cards, but I like them a little more every year. And my respect as a class-act, well-run organization? They have that 100%. A tip of the hat to you, Redbirds.
