This is so fanciful it is ludicrous. The logic is abominable. "Republican leaders, under pressure from Tea Party-backed conservatives, said the bill was needed because the food stamp program, which costs nearly $80 billion a year, had grown out of control. They said the program had expanded even as jobless rates had declined with the easing recession. This is in fact an outright, bald-faced lie. The program expanded because although jobless rates have declined very modestly, the number of people living in poverty has grown exponentially in the so-called "easing recession". US Census data has shown nearly 47 million people are living in poverty - close to the highest level in two decades. This is because of corporations choosing to work people part time or are not hiring. Never mind the politics let us call bullshit upon this in factual terms. To qualify for SNAP or "food stamps" a person has to legally prove that they are living below or at the Federally established poverty line. Right?
