This is something that needs to change around here, if you could post it and get the ball rolling for me, I would appreciate it. Yesterday, I began monitoring the situation presented by the incoming storm system and quickly realized that I needed to get my family to a safer location. I have two little girls and a wife thats 7 months pregnant. The thought came to mind to go to the Bartholomew County Public Library and wait it out. There are lots of things in place at the library to keep children occupied and the structure is about as sound as any other tornado shelter. As the storm approached, an older man made his rounds and began sending people home. I argued to him that I was actually there to seek shelter from the storm. He looks past me at my two daughters and pregnant wife and says, this is not a storm shelter, you need to leave now. I was livid. In no way, shape or form is it right or humane to put people out in weather like that. We managed to make it clear across town and ended up having to break into an abandoned house for shelter. Shame on that old dude and shame on the city for not having better measures in place to protect people in emergency situations. This is only the beginning, Im taking this up the ladder and I suggest everyone else follow suit. - submission
