This is true. In the throes of post partum depression, etc. I had not worn make-up in some time. At Megs wedding, I went to go see my boy who my sister was taking care of during the getting ready and crazy of it all and he looked right past me! He did not recognize his mama, and it made me really sad. Our standards for beauty are ridiculous, and the effort we feel we need to put into it just as asinine. Sometimes wearing make up feels like a gift to my husband. Sometimes (lots of times) it feels deceptive and inauthentic.
