This looks wonderful. Roger Ebert was one of the two most influential film critics of our time. I am lucky I had the opportunity to not only meet him, but to sit next to him at the 2001 Sundance Premiere screening of Christine Lahtis film, MY FIRST MISTER. That day I also met Carol Kane, Mary Kay Place, Leelee Sobieski, and Albert Brooks. Before the film started, Roger Ebert asked me what I did. I explained my job at Sundance, as well as my work as a writer. He said he would look for my books one day (I was still unpublished). After the movie, when Christine Lahti found out I sat next to him, she stood next to me and asked me for his reactions. I told her he really seemed to enjoy it. I was working the floor at the Salt Lake Premiere Party and I felt pretty silly standing next to her, as she is very tall, and elegant, and Im so short. But she gave me a HIGH FIVE. It was a wonderful experience, although I am clearly too short, but then Mary Kay Place came up, hugged me, and asked me to find Carol Kane a doggy bag because she was always too nervous to eat at public events. It was all I could do not to chase her around the table yelling LIAR! LIAR! (Just kidding. See The Princess Bride if you dont understand my reference.) Mary Kay and Carol were both short. That made me feel better. RIP, Roger Ebert. You were definitely a part of my bucket list night. I wish you were still here so you could see my books in stores. (Hint: Look under Natalie R. Collins Fan Page.) #riprogerebert #film #filmcritics #lifeitself #sundance #christinelahti #myfirstmister #bucketlist
