This message is for everyone who may have any questions about why Amy and Friends North America was started. Amy and Friend North America wasnt started to compete, this isnt a campaign to conquer the world and make Amy and Friends the only Cockayne Syndrome Organization out there. There have been many requests from people in the US for a Amy and Friends organization to be setup. At its heart Amy and Friends is a user led organization which means that if we are asked and are able we will try and do something for the people we support. This isnt about people needing to choose between one organization or another - its about trying to provide the things that Amy and friends does in the way that it does it for people who want it. There are always multiple businesses or organizations that on the surface offer the same thing, but when you experience both, one will offer something that more specifically meets your particular needs or circumstances. There is more than 1 Down syndrome organisation in the US for example. There will be very little overlap but we will be looking to fulfil specific needs for families in North America in the same way that AAF does in other parts of the world - this isnt a new thing for AAF - over the past 8 years we have already provided equipment to US families and financially supported families to attend CS conferences in the UK and US! We look forward to continuing to support families that so desperately need it!
