This month, college students across America returned to the classroom to earn their degrees. A college degree should help give our students the tools to earn a more secure financial standing, not burden them with debt. But for too many former students and graduates, the staggering cost of student loan debt is delaying their ability to get married, start a family, or even afford to buy a car or a house. Students should be rewarded for investing in their future – not punished. That’s why I’m co-sponsoring a bill that would make it easier for our students to afford the rising costs of education. Click here to tell Congress: Pass the Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act. I’m proud to co-sponsor a piece of legislation that allows those with existing student loans to refinance their debt to the same rates that new student borrowers are getting. It’s just common sense – there shouldn’t be unfair and excessive interest rates. We need to reward students and graduates who have invested in their education and our nation’s future. Click here to join me in calling on Congress to pass the Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act. This bill is one step toward ensuring all students have a fair shot at the American dream.
