This month we are inviting all of the men to join us. Our goal in forgoing our razors for a month and itching like crazy is to raise awareness about the plight of the orphan, as well as awareness for one of the greatest solutions for that dilemma, adoption. Obviously there are more ways that we could ever write about to get involved in this issue in some way. Whether through consistent and fervent prayer, financial generosity or even personal action (pray, give, go), the need and the ability for all of us to be involved in some way is paramount. James 1:27 makes it very clear that taking care of the orphan is “pure and faultless religion” that pleases God. As a church and as individuals we want to please God. You might say, “whats the big deal with awareness?” But when we become aware of a problem that we have the capacity to help, change and affect, then we must do something. Being the “good neighbor” that Jesus taught believers to be carries with it an inherent compulsion to be involved in some manner when we become aware of an issue or problem that breaks His heart (and should break ours). Here are a few things to be “aware” of during this month of grooming laziness. November 3rd is National Orphan Sunday.
