This morning- Me: Mia, you need to be making your own lunch (as I am making it and I tell her every day she should be making it) Mia: FINE (snotty tone) Me: (eyebrow raised) So? What should your consequence be? Mia: I have to make my lunch! Me: Thats not a consequence, that is an expectation Mia: FINE (snotty again) take my phone Me: OK you have no phone for the day today Mia: I dont really care Me: OK then lets just make it for the week Mia: I dont really care Me: We can go for a month if youd like to keep up the snotty tone Mia: Whatever Fast forward to 6PM tonight Mia: I have a negotiation Me: ? Mia: I will do the cat poop ALL WEEK, and I will ground myself from TV and Computer for the whole week. But I will have my phone Me: Im sorry? Thats not a negotiation that is a proposal, and I am not accepting your proposal. Mia: (Laughing and smiling) Mom.. Im soooooo sorry I was a snot today but I dont think I want to lose my phone for a week Me: But you said you really dont care Mia: OK what if I make dinner for the rest of the week (as if) AND cat poop, AND no TV or computer Me: No. You lose the phone, as we discussed. But I may be willing to make the phone 1 night if you do the cat poop all week (Im easy) This went on for like 30 minutes. She was BEGGING to use that phone tonight. She has little friends she texts with (which I review to make sure they are GIRLS and being appropriate) anyway I thought it was freaking hilarious and I usually give in but I didnt so I was proud of myself for at least making her lose it tonight. LOL
