This morning, I addressed the U.S. House of Representatives in support of H.R. 5759, the Preventing Executive Overreach on Immigration Act, which I co-sponsored. H.R. 5759 upholds Constitutional provisions stating that Congress establishes Naturalization laws while the President “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” H.R. 5759 applies to both current and future Executive Actions, preventing future Presidents (Republican or Democrat) from bypassing the Constitution via executive action. This is not the only action the House will take to restrict the overreach of the President, and I am committed to continuing our efforts in the coming weeks and into the next session of Congress.
