This morning I woke up to a text message from Uruj Saeed, who passed away yesterday, which sent shivers through every part of my body. I didn’t know if I was dreaming or seeing things. Then when I opened it, I realized it was her sister using her phone to request me to lead her janaza today. I couldn’t help but scroll up through all of the previous texts which were all either invitations to events, collaboration on activities, or her informing me about someone in need so I could help them. As I continued to scroll up with my emotions running wild, I came across a text from her thanking me for a talk I gave on the 27th night last Ramadan. Words can’t express how I felt reading that message knowing that she won’t be here for this 27th night, and I don’t know if I will either. She was as energetic as anyone I’ve ever met, and only 38 years old. I literally just drove from her Janaza to the airport and am now sitting on a plane about to head to London. This world truly is deception. May Allah allow us to live and die upon Islam, and make our best actions our last ones, and this Ramadan our best one. May Allah have mercy on our sister Uruj Saeed and grant her the full reward of this Ramadan. Allahuma balighna Ramadan. ameen ~ Shaykh Omar Sulieman *** Please keep sister Uruj and her family in your duas. May Allah forgive all those who have passed away.
