This morning, listening to KPBS they interviewed a 16 year old - TopicsExpress

This morning, listening to KPBS they interviewed a 16 year old boy, one of the many kids coming to our country as part of the current immigration crisis. This kid, had spent months getting here. Worried he would be kidnapped or murdered. His parents had been killed (his mother was pregnant at the time) for refusing to co-operate with a local gang. You had to hear his voice to really get the story. This was not an easy trip. Not an easy thing to do. They talked about another child, 11 years old, and pregnant who was now non-verbal because of the trauma of getting here. The parents sending their kids out to try and get here KNOW this can happen, and KNOW what their child may face getting here, yet they still think its worth it and better than where they are now. I cant imagine that choice. Sending my kids off to possibly get killed, hurt, kidnapped... because it was better then where were are right now. These kids need help. I dont give a crap how many of them there are, or how they got here. They are CHILDREN. Cut the goddamn militray spending 5% percent and do whatever needs to be done. We fancy ourselves the good guy nation in the world, the white hats. About time we all started to goddamn act like it.
