This morning my day was shattered when I learned that my dear friend from college, Matt Auten had slipped the bonds of this earth and joined his Father in Heaven. Matt and his family were vacationing at the beach and enjoying Gods beauty there when something went terribly wrong and Matt drowned. His two young boys have lost not only their dad but their hero. He and Amys love for those boys was evident in their posts on Facebook chronicling their adventures which often involved their dad being silly. His sweet wife Amy has not only lost her husband but a man that she adored and cherished and whom she often shared her thoughts about on FB. I spent some time today reading just the last couple of months of posts on Amys page and it is clearly evident that this great man loved his wife and boys with his whole being. I have many great memories through the years with Matt and the memory of those times will be ones that I cherish. When he released his first album in 1995 he wrote in the note below, let us still go out for pizzas when we are old farts, if it be thy will. I was looking forward to it Matt and if you find any great pizza places in Heaven, Im buying when I get there! Love you Matt. Please keep Amy and her boys in your prayers.
