This morning, the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” was on my lips and heart. It’s not unusual for me to wake up with a song on my heart; it happens quite often. Sometimes the songs appear out of nowhere, and I just start singing it. Other times, it’s because I heard the song recently. This time, it was the latter. We sang “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” in church on Sunday, but I wasn’t humming it out of the church sanctuary, and I didn’t think about it again until this morning when I practically woke up singing the chorus. I am not sure of many things in my life, but this is one thing that I am sure: God is faithful! I’ve seen his faithfulness in my life so many times. I have seen his faithfulness in other people’s lives. Today, I’m just in awe of God’s faithfulness, not necessarily because there is some circumstance in my life at this very moment that proves that, but because he is faithful all the time, even when I don’t see it. God was, is and always will be faithful. I’m going to make special note of the times that I see God’s faithfulness appear this year as I read through the Bible both in the Bible itself (We are coming up on one already. God is so faithful to Abraham in so many ways!), but also in my life. I like to write these instances in a journal. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been encouraged when I look back and read about the ways God has pulled through for me. It helps during the rocky times remembering that God is always faithful even when at first it doesn’t look like it. What a beautiful promise—God is with us and he is faithful!
