This morning when I went to the barn, a swarm of honey bees had decided to make their hive between a small crack between the tack room and the old garage. And as its right beside the tack room door, we couldnt leave them there. So Henry had to spray to get rid of the ones that were there, and seal up everything. Late this afternoon, the rest of the workers returned to their new hive, only to find it closed off. We had a huge cloud of bees over the roundpen, and they werent very happy at all. Everyone had to get inside the buildings. About a 1/2 hour later, they moved to the small bunch of trees at the south end of the buildings, and this is what they did. Im hoping that theyll move on to somewhere else where theres no humans. Weve had this happen a few times over the years, and they always leave once their hive is gone. Im thinking their queen bee isnt with them as she would have been inside the crack we sprayed and sealed.
