This national sanitation day nonsense must stop..... This is what just came to mind after an altercation with some guy who wants me to close my shop to go and sweep despite all the money i pay to the assembly..... government should rather set up a sanitation task force at the local government level, with the mandate to clean up their districts/municipalities/metropolis within a specified period of time, they will do this by dividing their districts/municipalities/metropolis into sanitation zones, these sanitation zones will then be given out on contracts through a competitive bidding process to LOCAL sanitation companies, to clean to a specified standard within a period that is subject to the period of the mandate of the sanitation task force... funds(except money for operations) will only be released to an individual task force for their remuneration and payment to contractors after a successful execution of their mandate, after this the task force will be dissolved or maintained at the expense of the assembly. To maintain the clean communities after this project, there should be a sanitation assessment for every assembly, and non performing assemblies should be punished by subtracting a certain percentage from their common fund. my two cents tho...
