This photo Helena posted reminded me of something I found out a couple of weeks before Charlotte died. I was working on family history, copying names and birth dates out of the family Bible when mom said, Make sure you have Ida Mae. Who? My baby sister who died during the depression. Ida Mae Parks was born on December 7, 1932. She died eleven days later. Great Grandma and Grandpa Parks could not afford a proper burial during such hard economic times. The Quaker Church (at the end of Dolly Varden Road on South Charleston-Clifton Road) on donated a small plot in the back corner next to the fence. George and I drove to the old church and looked and looked until we found the headstone. Baby Girl Parks 1932. Uncle Jim took my girls there a couple of years ago when they were out for the reunion and the farmer had plowed the headstone down.
