This post has been a long time coming. At the beginning of this year we found out Garrett has apraxia of speech (basically his brain tells his mouth what to say but his mouth muscles cant do it correctly). In the spring we went to the ENT (for his hearing, it was perfect!) And he discovered he has a bi-fid uvula (his uvula is split in a Y shape- this could indicate a submuscus cleft) He referred us to a developmental specialist. She discovered he has flat feet (sorry, my fault bud), a developmental coordination disorder, and POSSIBLY a mild form of cerebral palsy. The more research I did, the more things pointed toward him having it. He is of a multiple birth, he was premature, on oxygen, has the developmental coordination disorder, and apraxia. We were then referred to a neurologist who said he did NOT think he had CP! But just to be sure he wanted an MRI done. Tuesday we had the MRI and today I am SO thankful to report, with tears in my eyes, it came back NORMAL. Everything. They checked his ears, throat, possible cleft, and brain- ALL. NORMAL. I think the exact words were nothing of significance. So after the most stressful week of my life I get to end with the best news in the world. Thank you for those that knew for praying and thinking of us and asking how each step went. Now, we have some minor things to have therapied for- but he gets to go to an amazing school in an amazing class and make new friends. I cant describe the weight that has been lifted. Praise our good Lord for seeing us through this, no matter the outcome.
