This s why the work of volunteers, shelter staff and rescues is never done. This is what is happening at another shelter at Christmas time. Saving lives is both heartbreaking and rewarding. As fast as we can save one there are 50 owners standing in line to dump off more. Baskets and boxes of puppies and kittens are dropped off. Folks spay and neuter your animals. Dont tell me you cant afford it. The shelter has spay neuter vouchers for $25. Mid South Spay and Neuter has low cost spay and neuter and the SNIPs program also has reduced costs based on income. It is cheaper than dog food and gas to take them to be killed. Our county and city needs to do more to fund spay/neuter instead of funding euthanasia. It is not the shelters fault. They hate it as much as we do but they do what they are told and OUR Community turns its head the other way. If you could only step up and demand a change. We are doing all we can but it will take the whole community.
