This status update by Shaykh Hamza reminds me of what was mentioned by Prof Malik Badri in his lecture that I had the opportunity to attend many years back, Alhamdulillah. He said something along these lines, among other things: Just like this world is like a womb, so our soul is like the developing baby, waiting for its expulsion from the womb. And our material body plays the same role as the placenta in the womb. When the time comes for the soul to move on, it will leave the body and no longer needs it just like the baby no longer needing the placenta. And what happens to the body? It gets buried and just like the placenta, it is forgotten for it has served its purpose. So Prof asked why we shd spend so much time on our bodies at the expense of nurturing our soul ie feeding it with knowledge, particularly knowledge of Allah, our role here, our reason for existence, the shariah etc. It baffled him that we spend a lot of time on something that is temporary at the expense of the permanent. Because at the end of the day, the body gets buried, decay and reduced to non-existence... Lesson: get priorities right I know I get reminded of his lecture in those times I got pregnant, for one.. May this sharing be of benefit. Allahu alam
