This story is an example of why non-technical people shouldnt poke into technical matters. It seems that this is an elaborate drama conceived to tell the gullible people that all things in social media is fake. Either cobrapost doesnt understand anything about internet, hacking, fake profiles or these people/companies are existing to make money from people like cobrapost If cobrapost is innocent then it should have sought help of leading technical people to cross verify the claims made by those companies, may it should sent this to leading collages to cross verify. Journalism is not sensationalism, that is called yellow journalism. Trying to throw dirt on Modi and BJP is fine, but these kind of idiotic stories make cobrapost is also one of media orgs doing yellow journalism. Let me point some examples, //I shall tell you how the work is done—I can update your laptop using my laptop sitting anywhere, you see, I will show it to you sitting anywhere.”// Care to explain how is this possible? Even if the laptop connected to internet, how easy to find that particular person? for example, how to find a person using mobile number without any other data? //Pathak says he would launch an attack on Netaji’s opponent a few days before the election, using a dongle with static IP (Internet Protocol, or a computer’s address), to avoid detection.// Another idiotic statement , using Static IP is the easiest to way to get caught. If the ISP has the log, then dynamic IP also can be detected (ie who is using which IP). This statement shows the neither the person or the cobrapost doesnt know anything about internet, IP address or hacking. //A couple of days later, the Cobrapost reporter meets Vikas and Mohit again, where they declare they have entered into a tie-up with FB which will spare them a staff member to work dedicatedly on the project.// A tie up with FB ie Facebook? Seriously? these reporters believe this bluffing ? //“Viral marketing against our opponent will be done using a fake ID and assembled laptop.” Both, needless to say, are easily dispensed with.// And how you connect to Internet with a ISP connection? // “Google has a ‘set of rules’ of marketing and if we don’t comply with them, they would block the site,” he says. He then goes on to stress:// ??? What Google has to do with site? //As for anonymity, there’s a simple plan. “See, an e-mail can always be tracked through the IP address from which you have taken your internet connection,” says Gupta whose plan is to have multiple internet connections. “So, in this maze of hundreds of e-mail accounts from different IP addresses, it will be impossible to track and identify the source,” he lets you know.// If an email can be tracked why not 100 emails? Who is fooling us here? this person or cobrapost? // “Everything will be done from there (Singapore) only, nothing will be done from here. That’s because no name will show up there, and nobody will come to know from where it is coming.”// So if you create a fake ID in Singapore then it cant tracked right? // He will do this, of course, using a separate internet connection bought using a fake ID. He will disable the tracking device of the laptops he will use for the project and once it is over he will destroy the machine.// Tracking device in Laptop? and internet connection using fake ID? as in FB?
