I just emailed the following to all political party - TopicsExpress

I just emailed the following to all political party representatives for my ward. If, like me, you feel strongly about my reasons for this mail, feel free to cut and paste it to an email for your MP should you so wish. In fact, grow a pair and do it! Dear Sir, Madam I am writing to you all to voice my very real and very deep concerns regarding Kosher and (more so), Halal products and Halal Certified companies and manufacturers. I feel very strongly that U.K. Food Regulations are followed concerning animal welfare and the need for proper stunning before slaughter. Where exemptions regarding stunning have been made on religious grounds, (i.e. Kosher, Halal), then such products are surely intended for consumption by Jews and/or Muslims - not for mainstream distribution, (and/or for export), as in happening now? Thousands of animals are ritually slaughtered and pass into our food chain unlabelled. Presently, cast-offs from the Halal meat industry that do not meet the standard for certification requirements, i.e. hind quarters, are discarded, unlabelled, into the mainstream food chain. We as consumers cannot apparently rely on Muslims or Jews to label their ritually slaughtered meat. ALL such meat must be given an RS Label, for Ritually Slaughtered or Religious Standard. This will bypass all arguments regarding pre-stun, no-stun, low-stun, etc., making it totally transparent, thereby giving the consumer a CHOICE. Halal, in particular, does not JUST apply to foodstuffs. I was shocked to discover that things like certain brands of toothpaste, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, amongst other every-day products, are also Halal Certified, making it virtually impossible to disassociate oneself from the Islamic religion because of commercial intrusion...due to lack of sufficient product information which SHOULD be a legal requirement! What really bothers me here is the fact that when consumers unwittingly buy ANY Halal certified products, part of the price paid goes as a fee to Halal Islamic experts who devoutly pay Zakat Tax on their income...one-eighth of which funds Islamic Freedom Fighters…in other words, Islamic Terrorist groups, such as the Mujahideen! I believe it to be a basic right to know exactly what we are eating. I believe it to be a basic right to know exactly what we are buying! I look forward to your comments. Regards, Jane Mitchell. (Mrs).
