This tip may blow your mind, so brace for it... Why am I not losing weight when Im doing intense cardio for 1+ hrs a day? When you put your body under that much stress for so long, your ADRENAL glands release cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone that kicks in when your body is trying to survive the intense stress youre putting onto it. Your body literally thinks its running for its life. The cortisol then stores all of the fat thinking it is protecting you. Its a part of our fight or flight system. Running has never been a good way to lose weight or get in shape because it actually does quite the opposite for you from a hormone standpoint. Ever hear stories of women spending hours on treadmills not losing any weight?? Thats why. Their bodies go into fight or flight mode and cannot actually tell why they are running. AVOID chronic cardio which can actually short-circuit your metabolism.
